Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant: Holiday Update

As of December 24, 2014, major construction has been completed at the plant, however neighbors will still notice some work as the project reaches final completion over the next three months.

No night work is currently planned.

Through February 2015, our Contractor will continue building a new road inside the plant that will improve access for maintenance workers. All work is taking place inside the plant property.

Through early January, a small crew will also continue sandblasting and coating the new washwater tank located near our Millbrae neighbors on Sycamore Drive. In 2014 the project team completed the construction of five new filters. This washwater tank holds the water used to clean these filters during the filtration process. Exterior work on the tank is scheduled for Monday, December 29 through Wednesday, December 31.

The plant is now back in operation and capable of treating water from the Crystal Springs Reservoir System. The work was completed on schedule…just in time for the winter rains!

Happy Holidays from the PPSU Project!

The PPSU project contractor, Ranger Pipelines, Inc., will begin construction activities on Monday, December 8 within the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s right of way inside Shelter Creek Condominiums next week. The contractor will begin this work by removing debris, trees, and shrubs from the work area. Crews will also be relocating a water and electrical line outside of the work area, installing temporary lighting, and installing construction signage.

The PPSU project team is working closely with the Shelter Creek Condominium Board to minimize impacts during work for this project. Construction activities inside the Shelter Creek Condominium work area are currently planned for Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but in case of an emergency, night and work may be needed. Construction activities at this location will occur in two phases and expected to last through summer 2015.

The PPSU project includes seismically upgrading three Hetch Hetchy regional water delivery pipelines located in Northern San Mateo County. This project will ensure the pipelines can continue to deliver water to customers after an emergency. The Peninsula Pipeline Seismic Upgrade (PPSU) Project wishes you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. The contractor, Ranger Pipelines, Inc. will suspend construction activities starting on Thursday, November 27 through Sunday, November 30, 2014. PPSU construction is scheduled to begin again on Monday, December 1 in Millbrae, San Bruno and South San Francisco.

Permitted construction hours:

• Millbrae - Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
• South San Francisco - Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• San Bruno - Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Harry Tracy: Holiday Update

Good news for our Millbrae neighbors! Sandblasting activities for the new washwater tank at the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant will wrap up no later than end of day Wednesday, November 26^th. Painting the interior and exterior of this new tank will resume on December 1^st and continue through mid-December.

Many thanks to our neighbors on Sycamore, Pinehurst, Crestview and nearby streets for bearing with us the last two weeks. We expect the next phase of work to be quieter, but please do not hesitate to call us at (866) 973-1476 with any questions or concerns.

The project team will continue to make every effort to schedule outdoor construction during the day shift. Periodic 24-hour work at the plant is expected through mid-December.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a small crew is expected to work 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Work this weekend has been carefully planned to avoid disruption to the neighborhood.

PPSU Construction Updates: South San Francisco & Colma Sites

South San Francisco

The Peninsula Pipeline Seismic Upgrade (PPSU) project contractor, Ranger Pipelines, Inc., continues construction on both sides of Westborough Boulevard inside the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC)’s right-of-way in South San Francisco. Permitted construction hours in South San Francisco are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After the underground tunnel is constructed under Westborough Boulevard, the contractor will install the new pipeline in January 2015. This tunnel design was selected to not obstruct traffic along Westborough Avenue.

Colma

The contractor started construction activities along the SFPUC’s right-of-way in Colma on Monday, November 17. This work includes removing debris within the right-of-way, setting up the construction staging areas, and installing construction fences along the SFPUC right-of-way to indicate the limits of construction. Construction hours are currently Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The contractor will begin removing and replacing approximately 700 feet of aged pipeline in January 2015.

PPSU Construction Activities Begin in San Bruno This Week

The PPSU project contractor, Ranger Pipelines, Inc., will begin construction activities inside the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC)’s right of way in San Bruno the week of November 17. The contractor will begin removing debris within the right of way, set up the construction staging areas, and install construction fences along the SFPUC right of way to indicate the limits of construction. 

Construction activities are only occurring along the right of way south of Whitman Way. The contractor may begin construction activities inside the Shelter Creek Condominium work area as early as December. Permitted construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Construction activities at this location are expected to last through summer 2015. During these activities, please keep an eye out for intermittent sidewalk and lane closures along Whitman Way.
